i think people take comfort in knowing they’ve been wronged. but being wronged doesn’t make you a victim. it just means you’ve been alive long enough to feel it.
yea, no one gets to become a fully grown adult without taking serious blows here and there. but trying to make your pain someone else’s responsibility is useless and ineffective.
We are all just living, loving, walking, talking wabi-sabi beings, hobbling through life held together by strands of precious gold. It’s the chinks that let the light in…
And even what you’ll receive by acting it up won’t be as genuine. People will feel constrained and throw you what you want to hear before running away at the first opportunity.
It may feel reassuring and comforting at first but at the end of the day, people don’t care that much about how pitiful you're trying to look.
It’s like begging for a loan and receiving pennies, wrong framing.

This was my favourite line too… ♥️
you don’t need to be a victim to “deserve” kindness and empathy and compassion from yourself and from others. try to remember that <3
That’s a good point. I guess there is a fine line between ‘deserving’ kindness and feeling that people owe you their sympathy.

Love this reminder. And it's okay to remember that healing isn't linear! Backtracking is natural, even if it feels frustrating.
