From another artist: we need creative presence now more than ever. I hope that your journey will be filled with lots of ambition, passion, and inspiration as you embark on the road less traveled! It's our presence that makes the world such a beautiful and inviting place to wake up to every single morning :)

I just decided to pivot from pursuing Radiography to English and I couldn’t be happier. It would’ve guaranteed me a job, sure, but that was never what I wanted out of life.

Money is important to keep in mind but I'd rather be broke and creatively fulfilled than rich and empty

A very important decision! Bravo for following another path, takes courage but just think of how much time could have been lost in something that was not for you! I love this! I am in the medical field and I see people who are ‘stuck’ there- they have already spent too much money and too much time and feel trapped but also feeling that it’s too late to turn back. Kind of like a personal prison. As you have mentioned, you have gained many valuable insights and skills that will no doubt inform your future endeavors. Art and science do mix, I happen to love both. Often wonder if I just focused on the one - great piece!

I saw that as my future and realized I had to get away before I got too old. I'm lucky in that sense. Those who realize later on and still make the switch have my complete respect - it gets much harder to leave. Thank you for reading!

I’m currently torn between becoming a psychologist and just pursuing owning an art house. They say you can do both but it doesn’t always feel like it

Maybe some people can do both, but I certainly couldn't. I knew that if I'd gone the other route, even with art still present as a hobby or something, I'd always wonder - what if?

Adding you to the list of ppl who go from the medical field to the arts (including me lol)

I’ll be cheering you on as you make this transition!

It's scary, but you've got this! I decided to quit my job in international affairs and got my MFA in Creative Writing instead. Not such a huge 180 for me, but it's worth the happiness in the end

You could do this! Learning how to learn is the greatest skill one could have. Remember that even though challenges would come and uncertainty would prevail in the rugged path you're about to follow, knowledge overcomes that darkness. You have a shit ton of courage to do this!
