I mean.... yeah. Props for the honesty, but internet edgelord honesty might not get you around the best community. I respect you (kind of?) for choosing to die on this hill, but also, I don't respect you. Personally I think it's a foolish choice. But hopefully this gets you where you want to go! I urge you to not get stoned every waking moment so you don't end up in an ego spiral.

I think it's pretty ridiculous that you got fired over that, actually. I don't think you deserved it at all. I'm sorry you lost the community, though. That's the worst.

Fuck 'em.

There's no point to this if you can't be honest.

But I like my anonymity, and don't plan to give it up.

Don’t delete the blog or change your name on it, because everything is archived so it wouldn’t make a difference anyway.

And that MCAT firing was bogus, as having this blog has nothing to do with how well you can teach that.

I only recently came across your writing and would say I am between the concerned and amused subsections of your audience, but I deeply respect your frankness and I think the world needs more of it. It may take time, but I think you’ll end up where you need to be. Also it might not seem so right now, but integrity is always a safer bet. After all, you don’t have anything if you don’t have yourself.

Keep up your weird ways, you’ve come this far.

You could debate it both ways. I think you’re very brave for sticking to your convictions. Hopefully this crash out leads to bigger and better things in the future. You might enjoy reading Invictus by H.Henley to help with this transition.

I enjoyed this account of your micro-cancellation.

You don’t see many Asian-American male writers getting cancelled these days. It’s good content.

Let's all be real, he baited you all to read his posts, and it worked hadsomely. The God is just directing the man to the job he's better suited for.

I frankly don't think people should share stuff like this. I think in some ways it inhibits sexuality that we talk about it so much in public. But I also don't think you really did anything wrong and I notice it's only ever men who get in trouble for stuff like this.

> I’ll keep sharing the ugliest parts of me, so long as they’re true.

I respect this in some ways, but have you considered that when you're older you might find different truths? I'm not talking about being shamed by feminists or apologizing for yourself, just that you may come to different conclusions about your current behavior when you get older. A lot of people do.

i’m not worried about if i change my mind later. if i change i change

Tbh a person so openly sexually promiscuous should not be a teacher, so yeah, I think you deserved it.

I just do not understand posting under your real name. I don’t even say anything particularly edgy and I would never use my real name.

Danny Li's avatar

it has to do with accountability for what i say. which is biting me in the ass rn but usually pushes me to write with complete conviction

It's just a speed bump. Only you can stop you.

Bro wtf you got kicked out of an artist’s co-working space for… hiring a sex worker legally?? Who are these authoritarian prudes

Anonymous Dude's avatar

Leftists don't like straight men who enjoy sex and write about it, even if no actual 'rules' were broken, I think.

Mary McVodka's avatar

Idk man I know a ton of leftie sex workers. That’s been the party line for the last ten years, “sex work is work.” There’s more to this, legitimate or not, there’s usually more…

Anonymous Dude's avatar

Oh sure, but they've got a sort of Nordic-model attitude where selling sex is OK but buying it is evil. (Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but...)

Mary McVodka's avatar

Nordic model is mostly out of favor in my circles. Full decrim is much more popular but completely toothless re: actually happening. As always, it’s about optics with these people.

Anonymous Dude's avatar

From what little I can tell I'd prefer decrim, so it becomes like hairdressing. But I keep reading about trafficking and so on. There is a *heavy* puritanical streak in the American spirit, and it's on the left now. It's kind of funny.

I could go into double standards about kink and polyamory and so on but it's probably not worth wasting either of our time.

What happened to "sex work is real work?"

Mary McVodka's avatar

People still say that for sure but I think Marxist consciousness complicates that… people change, grow, read (just not fast enough lmao)

Danny, if I, at 41, wish to pursue a career in medicine, I’ll be sure to hunt you down and help me prep for the Mcat. Feel better?

i’ll hold u to it

your work is not good enough to die on the cross for it. in a couple months youll regret it all and have nothing to show for it

Max Karson's avatar

His crucifixion is part of the work.

If you were a woman they probably wouldn't have booted you from the artist community at least (though you might still have lost the job).
