meh whatever fuck the haters i think ur hilarious, i cackled at this article & have cackled at other ones in the past. its a funny day when the internet thinks its deep
If these so-called haters unsubscribed because Danny is entertained by an exhibitionist blog, they aren't even true haters. Real haters would have more conviction. These are just posers. Pretending like their attention on social media is valuable enough to be a consequence.
From cursory view of Donald Boat post, it appears that Donald uses sarcasm and strawman. Donald's shtick is to hide behind a veil of not caring but attempts to deliver a poignant criticism. Reminds me of an adolescent. You can't be too cool for school and academic at the same time. It falls flat.
Danny of course is still an idiot. He told Donald "i feel like u don't understand why so many ppl resonate with WBE's writing". Danny, you fool, he does understand. But to admit that would be to admit the fallacy of his post. Don't expect a clown to have a straight face.
WBE writes interesting stuff. I like to read it. I even bought his book. I hope you and he can each conquer (sexually, and consentually of course) your top three most desired substackers. If I had a genie that only gave me one wish, that would be the wish.
your article about meeting him was pretty cool. i love this new age IRL literary beef. as for WBE, havenโt really read him but Iโm honestly more revolted by men like fr*ddie deb**r with their pseudo-intellectual ephebophile apologia than some homeless 4chan coomer bro posting ragebait.
Whenever a writer sleazes his way into someone's pants and writes about it, an angel gets a new set of wings with Neil Strauss' face printed on them, and an undiscovered genius pens a scathing review.
Regardless of everything else, to which I've been paying half-attention, I do respect the audacity and the boldness. Whether or not those are in service of something good, I don't know. But you're not a coward, I can say that much
This is hard to phrase, because I don't want to inadvertently defend wbe, who is not defensible. But, you can like who you like, and it took guts to say you liked that blog, so to that extent, respect.
I think he's a better writer than boat does, but wbe's a truly awful, genuinely indefensible person (I took out "if he's not making the worst bits up" because nah, even if he is, that indicates an awful person) who i hope gets better or keels over before doing more damage. But... nearly everyone i like, likes someone i hate. I at least dislike (in many cases strongly dislike or loathe) most of the more popular pundits and essayist. So, you liking wbe goes in the same boat as all those people liking essayists who may be less loathsome to the people in their lives but are not less loathsome in their essays. And just as nearly all those horrid people occasionally write good essays i like, this one story by wbe was actually funny (if you've made the mistake of talking to a deranged crack/meth addict long enough for them to decide you're friends and you absolutely cannot leave them, that story will resonate). Alas, the way he treats girls, unless he's suddenly changed- it doesn't sound like he has - means he perhaps deserves to get locked in a cell with that same deranged meth addict for years.
So, he sucks but you liking him doesn't necessarily mean you do and you admitting to it and refusing to back down indicates an admirable strength of character albeit not necessarily an admirable sense of taste or even any sense at all, but hey, we're all works in progress.
Tho before you give him too many chances, might want to watch this movie "Creep," which i saw for the first time last night. Going too far out of your way to give people constantly testing boundaries to see what they can get away with can have really bad consequences sometimes! (See also, I think it was called speak no evil? The original Danish version was better.)
Both movies! They're very good! (there's apparently a Creep 2 which my wife and i plan to watch tonight). And in case you were rolling your eyes w/the "keep my eyes open" comment i was obviously meaning this metaphorically - i don't think he's remotely as dangerous as the people in the movies wind up being, unless you're a girl going out with him. But still, your desire to see the best in him made me think of those films as I wait for a car repair diagnostic. Little known problem w/hybrids (granted it's a 2010 so non hybrids might be having their own problems by now) - a hybrid system malfunction can cause your car to coast to a stop in the middle of the road in the rain with nowhere to pull over. Fortunately it started again and continued driving, no accidents caused. But still. Needs fixing.

Oh, yeah, I've seen that before. I'm not paid up but the free preview seems unobjectionable.
Is this really a hill to die for..?
